We've all seen the lists of the things you should include in your flat lay photos: rings, invitations, shoes, veil, etc. These are all solid and important and beautiful choices, right? But what if you wanted to get cool and creative and include things "just because" rather than "everything has to hold sentimental value"? What if you end up finding the most unique pieces while thrifting that just scream "YOU"? That would be pretty sick if you ask me. So, here's to more flat lay photos including random, thrifted items or items you love at the venue, because genuinely, it's not that deep and often it's the weirdest stuff that makes art really epic.
Number Five: Including thrifted pieces in your flat lay
From embroidered flowers to a custom-made, traditional tattoo inspired piece, these non-traditional wedding veils are so deserving of a mention in this list. Whether you want to go simple and add some fun greenery that matches your wedding colors or go bold and design something special to commemorate your day, you can't go wrong with adding some spice to an otherwise plain wedding veil. Bonus hack: frame a portion of your veil to hang in your home instead of keeping it locked in a box (that you're likely never going to open).
Number Four: Unique Veils
Nothing says magical and whimsical more than adding crystals to your wedding, am I right? Bouquets featuring a crystal handle and small crystals throughout the floral arrangement are STUNNING and quite possibly my favorite non-traditional trend yet. If you want to go even further, choose which crystals to include in your bouquet based on what you want your intentions to be. For example, rose quartz for love, smokey quartz for grounding and emotional balance, or amethyst for calming the mind.
Number Three: Crystals in the wedding bouquet
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good timeless, classic, white satin dress for a wedding, but there's just something about a floral embroidered dress that I can't get enough of. Four of my brides last year had really unique wedding dresses, and every single time I was blown away by them. You may want a floral embroidered dress because you love flowers, or maybe you want to add a little extra flare of creativity to your wedding day, or maybe you just love the idea of going outside the norm. Whatever the reason, these dresses are beautiful and will likely forever be a favorite of mine.
Number Two: Floral embroidered wedding dresses
Picture this: it's the morning of your wedding, you're feeling all the nervous energy and wedding day jitters, and the calm within the storm is your partner. You decided to opt for a slow morning of getting ready together - your favorite playlist on, coffee in one hand & your partner's hand in the other. The nerves are steadying and you're soaking up all the extra time together. Plus, you get the most beautiful, intimate photos of the process, which you'll cherish forever.
Number One: Getting ready together
It's 2025, which means weddings can look however you want them to! Out with the old and in with the new (according to Sharpay Evans), these 5 non-traditional wedding trends have had my heart lately.
