Fontainebleau State Park is definitely one of my favorite places to explore near New Orleans. Less than an hour drive away from the French Quarter, it never feels too busy and has so much to offer. The huge oak trees and large open fields allow for room to run around, and the beach surrounded by stunning old cypress trees can make you feel like you’re in a rom com. At sunset, everything is washed in a golden light that just makes the entire engagement photo session experience feel extra romantic. When I am looking for the perfect location for a cinematic engagement session filled with movement and fun, Fontainebleau State Park is always high on my list.
A love story so easy to capture.
In the midst of wedding planning, hectic schedules, and life in general, we don’t often get dedicated one-on-one time with our partners. Date nights are often few and far between, which is why I want this to feel like a date. I always start my sessions by saying “I want you to feel like you’re on a date. So, interact with each other. Talk, laugh, play, and let yourself have this time together.”, and these two quite literally understood the assignment. Throughout the entire session, their love for each other and genuine chemistry was so palpable and so easily photographed. Alexis and Taylor spent the day running around on the beach, dancing under the cypress trees, drawing hearts with their initials in the sand, and melting into each other while watching the sunset on the water.
“I feel like you can really see how much we love each other.”
This was their response when I delivered the final gallery. I genuinely got teary eyed reading the message. Engagement sessions are about so much more than the outfits and location. At the core of it all is the love being captured between two people. I always strive to create galleries that can be felt – not just seen. My goal is to capture each couple in the most authentic way possible and have that come through in each photo. So, when I get responses like theirs, it feels extra special.
